Formed in 1969 MER is an organization dedicated to enriching and promoting the field of Museum Education.

MER's outstanding contribution to the field is the publication of the only professional journal devoted to museum education, the Journal of Museum Education.

Museum Education Roundtable provides leadership in professional development for a broad and diverse audience of museum practitioners and educators. Through its publications, programs, and active communications network, MER:

• Fosters professionalism among peers and others committed to excellence in lifelong learning.
• Encourages leadership, scholarship, and research in museum-based learning.
• Advocates the inclusion and application of museum-based learning in the general education arena.

MER is a non-profit organization based in Washington, DC., lead by a Board of Directors from across the country. Board members are nominated to represent diversity in the field, both in content and geographic regions. Please click here to learn more about our board.

Terms of service for the Museum Education Roundtable Board of Director are three years, with one renewable term. The terms of service are staggered with new members joining the Board each year. This means that we are always looking for new qualified and enthusiastic nominees to rotate onto the Board.
